Biography

Gave her debut on broadway in 1954 aged 19. Later she worked for television until 1964 when her first succesful movie as protagonist was released; it was "Mary Poppins" by 'R. Stevenson' for which she won an oscar. In the following years she worked with different directors in various genres (e.g. 'Robert Wise' (qv) "Sound of Music, The (1965)" and with 'Alfred Hitchcock' (qv) "Torn Curtain (1966)"). In 1969 she married the director 'Blake Edwards' (qv) with whom she also made various movies (e.g. "Victor/Victoria (1982)").
